Obituary of Rhoda Rothstein

Passed away on March 19, 2018, at the age of 81.

Predeceased by her parents, Morris and Gussie Flamer of Miami Beach, FL; and brother, Philip Flamer of McCallen, TX. Survived by her children, Jeffrey Rothstein, Robert Rothstein and Debra (Gary) Pifer; grandchildren, Justin Rothstein, Andrew Rothstein and Rachel Rothstein; brother, Irv (Sharon) Flamer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Rhoda was born and raised in the lower East Side of Manhattan. She moved to Rochester in 1972, where she was a homemaker, and after the kids left the house, she worked for Monroe County for 15 years in the Child Support Department. After retiring, she became a volunteer teacher at the Dudley School in Fairport. Rhoda volunteered every weekend at The Geva Theater. She received a Special Community Award for her work with the homeless. Her rugalach, noodle kugel and stuffed cabbage will be forever remembered – recipes that were handed down from her mother. Rhoda was a devoted and loving mother, and a friend and confidant to many.
